Upcoming News & Events

We've revamped the website to make it easier to view information on each page and added a panel to links of our other websites.

We have some exciting news and a lot of fun activities planned!
  • Upcoming Meetup - Psyche Dunkhase is a dynamic and experienced teacher who will be teaching our July 20th play-in. Psyche is a registered Suzuki Cello Teacher, and an active member of both the local and national Suzuki communities. She maintains a large popular cello studio (with a long waiting list!), and also teaches group classes as a faculty member of Boulder Suzuki Strings. She is also an active chamber musician and an avid performer of contemporary and experimental music. This play-in will be a real treat - don't miss it!!!
  • Cello Expressions - Nick Halsey of Cello Expressions will be collaborating with our group to compose and/or arrange some pieces specifically for our group. We will be playing It's A Wonderful World arranged by Nick during our next play-in. For the camera-shy, we will be video recording this piece so you may move outside the camera's range. This is just for FUN so he can see our different levels and abilities, and to hear how his arrangement sounds with 15+ cellists, so play like you normally do and pretend you didn't read this paragraph! ;).

  • YouTube Channel - we've added a YouTube channel which includes other cello choirs around the world (very inspiring!), and we will also be recording a couple pieces from some of our sessions to post online. We may also record pieces we are working on and/or testing with out-of-state composers, which may or may not be posted online.

  • Benefit Concert - we are planning a Benefit Concert to cover costs (food, drinks, music, website, supplies, etc), and will have the Denver quartet Voice of the Wood , members of our play-in who would like to participate and other guest artists performing. Stay tuned for more details!

  • Holiday Recital Concert - we are currently working on the program and will have the repertoire and information posted by mid-September. The repertoire will be more difficult than our regular play-in sessions, but we will have additional practice sessions planned.

  • Beginner Ensemble Series - we are planning for a 2 or 3 part series for beginner adult cellists to learn how to play in a group ensemble. We are aware that many adult beginners have not had the chance to play with others. This series will help cellists feel more comfortable joining our Play-in sessions; whereas our guided Play-ins are geared to have FUN and is not meant to provide individual instruction or lessons, this series will be geared towards ensemble skills and instruction to play with others - with the goal that more "beginner" cellists are able to join our sessions with more confidence and play comfortably with others. This series is not required to join our Play-ins. More info will be posted on the Meetup site, start date: TBD . A fee will be assessed to join this series .

  • Cello "Rock Band" - Any one interested in participating in a cello "Rock" group? Let us know. For more information, visit this link here .

A big " Thank you! " to our wonderful sponsors, members and volunteers, and please keep the feedback and suggestions coming!

Have a wonderful and safe Fourth of July everyone! :)
